Heather: How are things?

Audrey: Brenda had the fluid drained. Sharon and Amy were up from Florida. They invited Amber to spend a week with them in Florida. Spencer is OK. Julie lives on Amanda Street. Isn’t that great. The name of her street reminds me of Aunt Mandy.

Heather: Who has been visiting you lately?

Audrey: Amber. She comes here often! She’s jumping around here getting everything in order. She straightens out my clothes. She makes sure I have everything I need. I haven’t forgotten what she looks like! (Laughter)

Heather: How do you like the food at Alpine?

Audrey: I eat broccoli. I am not crazy about it, but it is good for me. Macaroni and Cheese is my favorite, no matter who cooks it. I like scrambled eggs and bacon. A friend of Crystal is the chef here at Alpine. Well, it is sunny today, but snow is piled all around. There is dirty snow all over the ground. All the big rocks have a roof of Snow! When the snow is wet, it sticks to leaves. When it’s dry, it falls off. I have quite a few friends around here. Many people here I’m friendly with. So many people here, I have a hard time choosing who I like the best. I do not go out too much. It’s too cold. I like to keep warm. I am a great sleeper. I sleep more than I wake. Amber spent the whole day here marking my initials on each piece of clothing. Amber and Crystal are good at that. We were also sorting post cards.

Heather: How is life at Alpine?

Audrey: Amber brought over the larger bookcase that Ernie made. He did a beautiful job. She put it in the trunk of her car. The bookcase is beautiful. Ernie made a shelf for my telephone and a place for the wires to go through the back and not get all tangled up in the front. It like a little desk and all I have to do is reach for the phone.

Amber, she has a great mind for thinking things out. She put the bookcase between my bed and the wall next to the window. I still have a clear path to the sink land beyond. Amber worked all day getting everything in order. My books from Emily Dickinson to the Dictionary are all in order. The picture of the (historical) graveyard is set up. She brought cardboard boxes that hold my beautiful cards from Edith. Edith always sent me beautiful cards. She has my bulletin board all set up with pictures. I couldn’t be happier. She set up Belinda’s picture as a nurse. Belinda loves to study and hopes to he a surgeon. I can’t wait! Doctor Belinda!

Heather: Have you had visitors lately?

Audrey: Amber, she bops in every other thing. She loves to put books and everything in order. Oh Lord, I think I’ve got a hand. I’m not sure.

Heather: Hello, Mother. What have you been doing?

Audrey: Deardra came. I’m in my chair and we go out. Everything going fine! Stephanie and her sister look  just alike. Been out and walked around a lot. I was with Deardra.

I called Dawn. She’s got a boyfriend! He was a college professor. He is a “gentleman”. He is older than she. Spencer couldn’t get over it! (he was surprised but happy for her).

Amber and Crystal pop in. Amber bought curtains yesterday. She is having lots of fun. It’s nice to settle down. She has her own car. Today, men and women both need a car.

Amber’s boyfriend is awfully good to her. He’s a good guy. I hope they get settled down and both enjoy their life!

Tell me. Who are you’?

Heather: Who is your new roommate?

Audrey: I do not know yet.

I’ve seen the outside of Amber’s new house. I’ll see her sooner or later. She gets in here every other thing.

Heather: How were Crystal’s children different?

Audrey: Amber was different from everyone else. She was full of fun. She was very active. She never sat down. The rest of them rested from time to time, but not Amber. Now Martin, he was a good little kid and Belinda, she caused no trouble. The three of them seldom fought as kids.

Oh dear, I am so tired. I’ve got to hang up.

H: Who have you seen lately?

Audrey: Doug was here. He is looking up the MacDonald ancestry. Dawn was here with George. I like him. I’m very happy for her. She looks very, very good. Amber took me riding. She is here a lot. She is full of life. (Steve) is so good to her. He is wonderful. I’m happy for her. I was over to her house. I had lunch on her table. She took me around and we went riding.

Heather: Hello, Mother. How are you doing today at Alpine?

I feel fine.  I sit here and look out (the window).  Always something going on.

When Amber comes over, she fixes the bookcase.  Amber hasn’t come over lately.   O dear, I’m getting sleepy.
